Research Proposal Instructions
Please prepare a brief research proposal articulating your current idea for an honors project. If you continue in honors, you will not necessarily complete the project exactly as you propose it here – after discussion with your mentor, parts of the project may change, or the topic could change completely. This proposal should simply capture your current ideas.
The proposal should be 4-5 pages (double spaced) and should include an introduction, proposed method, and a paragraph or so of expected results. Your hypothesis should be clear and supported. You may include supplementary graphs or other materials if you wish. We are interested in your ability to read and synthesize relevant journal articles, formulate a logical hypothesis, choose and explain an appropriate method for testing your hypothesis, as well as your general writing ability. The proposal should be in APA style (though please do not write in past tense for a proposal). Include a reference list for all citations. The proposal should be written on your own, without help from others.
